The next Minecraft update may still be weeks away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited for it. 4J Studios has been hard at work building the update, and they’ve let out a few screenshots showing off some of the most anticipated new features. Look closely and you’ll see a mine shaft, spiderwebs, melons, silverfish, the hunger bar, and endermen. As if all that wasn’t enough, the update still has plenty more to offer, including creative mode.

If you like dressing up your avatar as much as you like Minecraft, you’re in luck. A new batch of themed avatar items are on their way, including the sheep and shears avatar prop shown above. The shearing animation is great, although you’ll never see Minecraft‘s Steve struggle that much. There is currently no release date or price for the item.

Foul Play announced

Victorian daemon-hunter and renowned Daemonologist Baron Dashforth had an amazing career vanquishing fantastical creatures. Now retired, he wants to share his life’s journey with the world. And what better way to share his story than by making it into a high-budget play?

Developer Mediatonic is making its first foray into XBLA with Foul Play, a sidescrolling brawler all about performance. Killing your enemies isn’t enough, you need to dispatch your costumed foes with style if you want to keep the audience’s attention. Execute perfectly choreographed strikes, takedowns, throws, and reversals to keep your viewers on the edge of their seat. The play’s scenery will constantly be changing as you progress: castles will crumble, pyramids will rise, and fires will burn. Dashforth can fight alone, or with his loyal companion Scampwick in two player co-op. When teaming up, the duo can link attacks and perform special team takedowns to furthur amaze the crowd.

The game’s opening night and price of admission are yet to be decided.

Steve Caballero returns to the Tony Hawk franchise

Steve Caballero might be older than (some of) your dad(s), but he’s still skating at age 47. Caballero was featured in four of the Tony Hawk games, from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 to Tony Hawk’s Underground. He’s making a return to the franchise as part of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 downloadable content coming soon. Steve is credited with creating the frontside board slide, known then as the frontside rock’n roll slide. He joins the revert trick and the LA, Canada, and Airport levels as part of the pack. Hit the jump for two more screenshots.
