Tales from the Borderlands: Atlas Mugged developed by Telltale Games and published on Xbox 360 and Xbox One by 2k Games. It was released March 18, 2015 for $4.99. A copy was provided by Telltale for review purposes.

Atlas Mugged happens to be a big milestone for Telltale Games: this is their 100th episode across all series.

Atlas Mugged shows that Tales from the Borderlands is here to stay by continuing a precedent of uber-awesomeness. It delivers more great performances, more laugh-out-loud moments, more crazy action sequences and more Loaderbot. It’s more Tales from the Borderlands, and boy is that a wonderful thing.

#IDARB is a particularly interesting game to say we’re anticipating in 2015, seeing as XBLA Fans got our hands on what we were told was the “final” game in December and published our review already. This zany handball-meets-platformer game from Other Ocean Interactive and the fine folks of the internet — many features crowd sourced — isn’t officially out until February, though, when it will be part of the Games with Gold promotion. It’s difficult to explain just what #IDARB is, but it’s easy to recommend that you go play it when it releases next month.

Have you ever tried chocolate and bacon together? You know how combining those two great things sounds gross, but turns out to be amazing? That’s the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands. It’s chocolate-covered bacon.

Zero Sum proves Telltale’s patented formula has flexibility and that making decisions can be fun instead of torture. The episode is essentially a heist story, told from the perspective of two very different characters. Playing as Rhys and Fiona, you make the decisions as they tell their side of the story. Despite not being gun-wielding tanks, they’re still true Borderlands anti-heroes: likeable scumbags trying to get paid. Getting to tell their stories is a blast; you get dialogue trees full of wit and sarcasm, and some major choices just turn out to be jokes in disguise. Going through the events that brought them together, you get a more intimate look at Pandora; one that is a little more calm with humor more refined. It’s still a Telltale game; you’ll build relationships with the game’s great supporting cast and do some terrible things, but you’ll be smiling all the way through.

Telltale’s newest series Tales from the Borderlands is coming out soon, and we mean really soon. Last night Telltale tweeted the release dates for the premiere episode, Zer0 Sum, and anxious players don’t have to wait very long. Xbox One users will be able to pick up the game tomorrow, November 26, while Xbox 360 users have to wait an extra week for December 3. The episode will cost $4.99 on either console, and the remaining four episodes can be pre-purchased with the $14.99 season pass.

Tales from the Borderlands takes place after the events of Borderlands 2, and shows what life is like on Pandora for those who aren’t face-shooting vault hunters. The series features two playable characters, Hyperion employee Rhys and con artist Fiona, as they tell the story of their unwilling partnership. Together they must face the dangers of Pandora, from bandits to vault hunters, in order to score the ultimate prize: a vault key. Telltale Games has proven to be a master of storytelling with numerous successful adaptations of exciting intellectual properties, including two recently released on Xbox One: The Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 and The Wolf Among Us. Telltale now looks to expand upon the mythology behind Pandora, the setting for Gearbox Software’s highly successful Borderlands Series, with Tales from the Borderlands. The game will be released for multiple platforms including Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Episodes may be purchased for $4.99 each. After buying the first episode players will have the option of getting a season pass for an additional $14.99 (saving the price of one episode).

The first episode, Zer0 Sum, will be releasing soon. The series will feature some pretty recognizable voice actors: Troy Baker as Rhys, Laura Bailey as Fiona, Chris Hardwick as Vaughn, Erin Yvette as Sasha, Patrick Warburton as Vasquez and Dameon Clarke as Handsome Jack. The series will take place after Borderlands 2 with some plot tie-ins to the recently released Borderlands the Pre-sequel.
