Wasteland 2: Game of the Year Edition, developed by InXile Entertainment, will be coming to the Xbox One at some point this summer, after launching on PC last September. The game was made possible through a very successful Kickstarter campaign, to the tune of nearly $3 million. Wasteland 2 is a turn-based role-playing game that is known throughout the gaming community as the forefather of the Fallout series and was highly regarded when the original launched in 1998.

Wasteland 2 will be releasing via ID@Xbox and will have plenty of new features for console players, among them: updated models, a new quirk and perk system, and new voiceover work. A more complete list of features, as well as the console announcement trailer can be seen below the break.

Choplifter HD review (XBLA)

Choplifter HD is developed by inXile Entertainment and published by Konami. It was released on January 10, 2011 for 1200 MSP. A copy was provided for review purposes.

Choplifter HD is the revival of a franchise first seen in 1982 on the Apple II. The game sees the player take the flight stick of a helicopter pilot traversing foreign lands ravaged by war, saving refugees. Now, inXile Entertainment brings the series into the current generation as an XBLA title with hi-def graphics, achievements and the whole shebang. Each level sees you traverse across a two-dimensional plane to rescue the refugees while avoiding (or blowing away) generic terrorists. Some levels are just that straightforward, while others toss in additional obstacles, like necessitating refuel stops or throwing an injured refugee with a timer into the mix.

Konami set to publish Choplifter HD this winter, debuts new screens

Konami has announced that they are teaming up with inXile Entertainment to publish the previously announced Choplifter HD for Xbox Live Arcade this winter. Based on the classic arcade series from the 1980’s, Choplifter HD puts you in the shoes of a helicopter pilot tasked with rescue missions ranging from extracting prisoners from POW camps to helping survivors of zombie outbreaks. Konami has provided us with six new screenshots of the game in action (which also features a Duke Nukem cameo) which can be viewed by clicking the link below to read on. Additionally, check out our interview with the game’s Senior Game Designer, Jairo Silva from back in August to get more of the nitty gritty details straight from the horse’s mouth. Choplifter HD touching down at PAX

By  •  News

Not every game is about destroying every single thing you see in sight, and it’s so easy to see a helicopter and think missiles, rockets, miniguns, explosions, but in inXile Entertainment’s upcoming game Choplifter HD it’s more about the lives to be rescued than the enemies to blow up. If that doesn’t tug at your heart strings, then feel free to return to blow stuff up, dodge missiles mode because Choplifter HD has that too even if it’s not all that goes on.

Now for those who have never played the original Choplifter the premise might not be too familiar save for those people who have been rescued by a choplifter (hope you thanked your pilot) so perhaps it’s necessary to get some hands-on time. Well anyone headed to PAX Prime is in luck as InXile Entertainment will be there showing off the game with playable missions and even an opportunity to see some of their special guests in the game, including the one and only Duke Nukem. We strongly encourage you to check out their game and our interview with Jairo Silva, Choplifter HD‘s Senior Game Designer, which will be going live later today.

Choplifter HD soaring its way to XBLA

Fans of the classic helicopter series Choplifter will be getting a brand new HD facelift this Autumn. Choplifter HD brings back the classic gameplay of playing a helicopter pilot rescuing survivors from POW camps and zombie outbreaks in 20 high-flying missions. The original creator, Dan Gorlin has been brought on by developer inXile Entertainment as a design consultant. “He has added valuable touches, including ways to connect the pilot to the rescued hostages in a meaningful way, which have helped us create a really rich Choplifter experience for players.” says inXile chief Brian Fargo. If you look closely past the break, you might see a classic XBLA character needing to be saved that’s quite ‘meaty’.
