Miscommunication leads to price change on Funk of Titans
As reported in XBLA Fans’ review of Funk of Titans, which was released today on the Xbox One, the price of this title was believed to be $8.99. If you went to purchase the title today, though, you may be surprised to find it priced at $12.49. While this created some confusion for gamers, and even some other gaming websites, XBLA Fans contacted A Crowd of Monsters public relations representative for clarification.

Lizard Squad members apprehended by authorities
Like millions of other Xbox gamers, you may have had trouble logging onto Xbox Live during Christmas. That’s because both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network were victimized by DDoS attacks that took them offline, but authorities may be closing in on the parties responsible.
YLE reported last week that a supposed member of Lizard Squad, the group claiming responsibility for the attacks, had been apprehended by Finnish authorities. A 17-year old identified only as “Ryan” was brought in for questioning, but Chief Inspector Tero Muurman of Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation has since stated that Ryan was not detained, only questioned about his possible involvement.
During his questioning, Ryan denied direct involvement in the attack, claiming to only be a spokesperson for Lizard Squad. He played the part during an interview with Sky News in which he said the actual team of attackers consisted of only one or two individuals.
Although Ryan said the group may contain members younger than the age of 20, one of them may be 22-year old Vinnie Omari, who The Daily Dot reports was arrested by UK authorities on December 29 in connection to the DDoS attacks. Omari was later released on bail, with no formal charges having yet been filed. Omari told the Dot that a forensics team was pouring over his “Xbox one, phones, laptops, computer USBs, etc.”

Pinball FX2: Venom review (Xbox One DLC)
The newest Marvel villain to have their own table in Pinball FX2 is Spider-man’s arch-enemy, Venom. With previous Marvel-themed tables, Zen Studios has gone one of two ways: they either incorporate the theme of a recent Marvel movie or they follow a theme from the comics. Released on December 12, 2014 for both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, Marvel’s Venom table for Pinball FX2 goes the latter route and incorporates a theme straight from the comic books.

Funk of Titans was developed and published on Xbox One by A Crowd of Monsters. It was released on January 9, 2015 for $12.49. A copy was provided by A Crowd of Monsters for review purposes.
“Cool Daddy-o!”
It’s motivational speaking at its finest, and it comes from main character Perseus, to whom Zeus has assigned the task of defeating the Music Titans. The player is sent to clear three different worlds of music consisting of Pop, Rap and Rock. At first glance of screenshots and trailers of the game, I assumed this was another traditional platformer in which the player runs and jumps and attacks on command. Nope. Funk of Titans is actually a runner-type game in which the character automatically runs, and the player commands the jumping and combat. This revelation completely changed my outlook on the game. Let’s dig into the finer details of how it did so.

XBLA Marketplace sees multiple game delistings before year end
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to everyone!
Unfortunately, it also comes that time when games may disappear from the marketplace for any number of reasons and is usually assumed as licenses expiring.
On December 30, 2014, Eastern Standard Time, the following games were removed from the Xbox Live Arcade Marketplace:
1. WRC Powerslide. Original release date: March 8, 2013.
This game wasn’t out for very long and never saw a XBLA sale. It was also a member of the games in that event in September of 2013 involving foreign countries.
2. Marvel vs. Capcom Origins. Original release date: September 26, 2012.
This game was announced for removal at the end of the year by Capcom ahead of time. While it is sad to see it go, at least it wasn’t a surprise.
3. Battle: Los Angeles. Original release date: March 11, 2011.
This game was a movie tie-in released around the same time the movie was released with very little fanfare. It has been around for some time and has gone away as quietly as its arrival.

Tetris Ultimate review (Xbox One)
Tetris Ultimate was developed by SoMA Play Inc. and published by Ubisoft on Xbox One. It was released on December 17, 2014 for $9.99. A copy was provided by Ubisoft for review purposes.
I’m a huge Tetris fan. Ever since summer camp and the original Game Boy version (1989), I’ve probably played 20 or more different renditions of the classic puzzler across every system I’ve ever owned. So when the opportunity came to try out a brand new version, Tetris Ultimate, for the new next-generation Xbox One, of course I jumped at it.
You probably already know the basics, but just in case you didn’t, Tetris has you dropping different-shaped blocks into a playing field in attempts to create and clear lines of blocks. It’s simple, fun and addictive. So how does Tetris Ultimate add to the formula?

Funk of Titans grooves on to Xbox One on January 9
Time to boogie down.
Funk of Titans celebrates that funk is the music of the Gods. Zeus created funk and the people love it. However, the power balance is being shifted as the Pagan Titans are trying to takeover by using other types of music to brainwash the people. All hope isn’t lost though as Zeus sends Perseus in the name of funk to defeat all the Music Titans.
Featured in this game are more than 40 stages of side-scrolling platforming in three different worlds of music: Pop, Rap, and Rock. Perseus will use his Funk-Fu to show the Music Titans whose boss. Funk of Titans arrives on Xbox One on January 9.
If you’re lucky, you might even see a rocket stick with a horse head.

German publisher BitComposer files for insolvency
Germany based publisher and developer BitComposer Games has recently filed for regular insolvency proceedings on December 3, 2014.
Insolvency is the inability to pay back debt when owed.
BitComposer claims that its problems come from “the financial difficulties of its suppliers in game development” and that game operations are “running smoothly”.
Prior to the events on December 3, BitComposer filed for a protective shield procedure on September 26, 2014 in an attempt to protect itself from foreclosure from creditors while giving itself time to come up with a plan for insolvency. The company is now searching for investors to help continue gaming development.
