Gamma World: Alpha Mutation
Developer: Bedlam

Unveiled by Atari and Bedlam at E3 this year, Gamma World: Alpha Mutation is an action-RPG set in a post apocalyptic universe. Playing like a third-person shooter heavy on customization and RPG elements, your character will “evolve” over time due to radiation exposure. This one hasn’t been seen in a while and neither Atari or Bedlam could be reached for comment, but given the fact that it wasn’t unveiled too long ago, we’re hopeful it will make it out in 2012.

Ghetto Golf
Developer: Illfonic

Ghetto Golf is described as a title that blends golf, third-person combat and comedy. It’s also described as the game for anyone who has ever wanted to simultaneously wield a 9 iron, and an Uzi. You follow so far? While not many details are available at this time, Ghetto Golf promises a deep single-player campaign, in addition to 16-player multiplayer matches in which you’ll golf and…kill each other. This one just may take the title for zaniest sports game of 2012.

Ghost Game
Developer: Scientifically Proven

Yet another game shrouded in mystery, the tentatively titled Ghost Game from Scientifically Proven is said to take influence from classic horror franchises and the critically acclaimed Bioshock. Everything we know comes from a single news piece and the extremely dark image that you see above. As of now, Ghost Game (which we expect to launch under a different title) is scheduled to launch this fall. We hope to have more details on the game in the near future.

Gotham City Impostors
Developer: Monolith Productions

Gotham City Impostors turned a lot of heads when it was first announced. It’s a first-person Batman spin-off that puts players in the middle of a gang war between vigilantes supporting Batman, and criminals backing The Joker. Think of something like Team Fortress meets Batman. While the concept may cause some head scratching amongst hardcore Batman fans, the game has been drawing a lot of attention and is now nearing release. With a prolific universe to pull from, this multiplayer frag fest may surprise you.

Happy Action Theater
Developer: Double Fine Productions

After blowing folks out of the water in 2011 with a multitude of releases, Double Fine is expected to have a slightly less eventful 2012. That said, Double Fine’s latest, Happy Action Theater is expected to kick off the year for Tim Schafer and gang. Happy Action Theater is essentially a collection of Kinect enabled mini-games intended to create enjoyment for the whole family. It’s a party game, Double Fine style! We can’t wait to see what kind of motion controlled madness awaits us.

Happy Wars
Developer: Toylogic

Microsoft and Toylogic are working on a new multiplayer action game called Happy Wars that is set to shake things up on XBLA in 2012. Promising 15 versus 15 multiplayer battles, Happy Wars offers players the choice of three different classes to terrorize their enemies with. The thought alone of 30 players hacking, slashing, and casting spells on each other in one arena on XBLA is enticing. While it’s being billed as a “casual” game, Happy Wars is definitely a title that everyone should keep an eye on.

Haste
Developer: Techland

Although they may be known best for developing Dead Island, Techland is no stranger to ATV racing. In 2011, Techland released an ATV racer known as Nail’d for multiple platforms. In 2012, Techland plans to return to the land of four wheeling by releasing Haste on Xbox Live Arcade. Expect plenty of dirt, speed and stunts when this one launches into your living room.

Haunt
Developer: Nana-On-Sha

After getting a few looks at Nana-On-Sha’s Haunt, the game can best be described as a Kinect enabled haunted house adventure. Initially classified as a horror title, Haunt promises to have its fair share of spooks, but is closer to Luigi’s Mansion than Silent Hill in reality. We still haven’t seen a whole lot of Haunt, but we anticipate that will change as we expect the game to release this year. We’re looking forward to getting our hands on it.

Hybrid
Developer: 5th Cell

5th Cell, creators of Scribblenauts are currently slated to release Hybrid for XBLA in 2012, a shooter that they say will “redefine” multiplayer. Usually when you hear a bold claim like that you can ignore it and chalk it up to PR jargon. With Hybrid however, things are indeed a little different. The first major difference? Player movement is actually controlled with the face buttons on the controller, giving the game what is described as a more tactical feel. Second, 5th Cell is promising that the game’s online multiplayer will present a “persistent World War” for players to engage in. Interested yet? We expect to see much more of Hybrid in 2012 before it releases. We expect it to be one of the year’s most unique shooters.

I Am Alive
Developer: Ubisoft

The story of I Am Alive is a strange one. After being announced years back as a retail game, it disappeared. Most people thought the game canceled until this past year when it was re-announced as a digital download title. Slated for release in 2012, I Am Alive is all about survival. Fitting for a game which seems to have been through quite a fight for survival itself. The world as we know it has crumbled and you’ll take control of one man on an adventure to keep his daughter and himself alive. Check out the trailer for yourself to get an idea of what to expect when I Am Alive finally sees the light of day.

THQ will be publishing the XBLA version of The Haunted: Hell’s Reach this year, which promises fans plenty of blood pumping, blood spewing, and blood gushing action. Billed as an action/horror title, Hell’s Reach should give your trigger finger an extensive workout as you plow through droves of demons and the undead. This winner of 2010’s “Make Something Unreal” contest will also give players access to fast paced online multiplayer and co-op so you and a friend can enjoy the slaughter in tandem.

Leisure Suit Larry HD
Developer: Replay Games

Coming straight out of left field, Replay Games stimulated the gaming world by announcing that it had acquired the rights to Leisure Suit Larry…And intended to remake and/or re-release all seven games in the franchise for digital download if they are successful enough to do so. So where does all the perversion start? With a remake of the first game of course. Leisure Suit Larry HD is slated to hit XBLA in 2012. If you haven’t played a game that revolves around a loser trying to seduce women before, this is your chance.
