Gamasutra editor Ryan Langley has released his Xbox Live Arcade sales analysis for the month of June. Of the seven releases last month Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 took a commanding lead in sales — over 130,000 units. We’re not really surprised, its predecessor has done extremely well, it’s a great franchise, and the critics liked it. Our own review also gave it high marks. Trenched took a well deserved second place. It was the only other title to reach over 50,000 units in sales, and it’s a total blast. Be sure to check out our guide for the game to get the most out of the action. Half-Minute Hero rounds out the top three with over 10,000 sales in its first week. It too got high marks in our review.

Of the remaining releases most did either poorly or average. The one surprise is The Adventures of Shuggy, which despite our staff loving it and having a strong Metacritic score has done poorly. We’d urge you not to pass this one up, especially if it goes on sale. Lucha Fury did better than we thought it would considering the low Metacritic score, but honestly our review score just barely put it into the Try It realm. Backbreaker Vengeance actually did worse than some of us expected, likely due to its high price. If you’re on the fence you may want to take a look at what we thought of it. We had hoped a bit better for Galaga Legions DX considering its high scores and our staff giving it fairly positive marks, but it too may have been a victim of high price.

Gamasutra’s coverage also takes a look at sales for Deals of the Week and coverage of some popular games that released prior to June. Castle Crashers continues to push on past the two million player mark with little sign of slowing down. Similarly Full House Poker gained almost 40,000 new players last month, bringing the total over 330,000. We’re not surprised, we liked it too.
