By  •  News

escapists_alcatraz

The prisoners of The Escapists have gotten out of some sticky situations, but this new DLC may be the toughest challenge yet. The new Alcatraz DLC adds a true-to-life recreation of the prison in which you can live, explore, and hopefully escape. Alcatraz is famous for being one of the strongest prisons in the world, known for its high security and numerous breakout attempts. The DLC is out today on Xbox One for $2.99, ready to see if you got what it takes to perform the jailbreak few have accomplished. If you want a brief look at the floor plans, check out the announcement trailer after the jump.

LA Cops review (Xbox One)

LA Cops review (Xbox One)

LA Cops was developed by Modern Dream and was published by Team17. It was released on March 13, 2015 on Xbox One for $14.99. A copy was provided for review purposes.

LA Cops LogoBack in the day, in larger cities, it is said that the only places open 24 hours a day were diners and small cafes. How people survived, I do not know. These eateries would offer coffee and a doughnut to the beat cops patrolling their neighborhood late at night – thus the connection, and the numerous jokes, between policeman and doughnuts was established. When LA Cops releases on Xbox One, every gamer will have 24/7 access to one of the more interesting and humorous games to be released in recent memory.

In LA Cops, you select and control two separate policemen – and/or policewomen – out of a group of six, and set out upon 13 highly tactical missions to take back control of the streets and lower the crime rate in Los Angeles. From hostage rescues to bank robberies to drug busts, you will be using one detective to cover the other, moving forward though the levels to complete the objectives. This will take some trial and error, as the bad guys make every effort to take you and your partner down.

XBLA Fans’ 25 most anticipated games of 2015

You’ve read our picks for the best XBLA and ID@Xbox games of 2014. Now it’s time to look forward with us at what might be the best games of 2015. While fully acknowledging that some of these games likely won’t up to their billing and others may get pushed into 2016, these are the 2015 games that XBLA Fans is currently most looking forward to. If these releases aren’t on your radar yet, they will be after you’re done reading.

#IDARB

Developers: Other Ocean Interactive and The People of the Internet

#IDARB is a particularly interesting game to say we’re anticipating in 2015, seeing as XBLA Fans got our hands on what we were told was the “final” game in December and published our review already. This zany handball-meets-platformer game from Other Ocean Interactive and the fine folks of the internet — many features crowd sourced — isn’t officially out until February, though, when it will be part of the Games with Gold promotion. It’s difficult to explain just what #IDARB is, but it’s easy to recommend that you go play it when it releases next month.

The Escapists coming to Xbox One in February

By  •  News

TheEscapistsBanner

Ever wanted to live the life of a convict without committing a crime? Then The Escapists from Team17 and Mouldy Toof is your game. Both a strategy game and jail simulator, the game throws you into prison and tasks you with breaking out. The game features six unique prisons to escape using six various methods. Escape isn’t easy; as an inmate you’ll need to gather the necessary supplies and set up your escape route while sticking to the prison’s schedule and avoiding guards. You can do prison jobs to earn funds for supplies, or just steal what you need (you’re a criminal, after all). The game also features an elaborate crafting system, featuring almost 200 items to find and create.

The Escapists is coming to Xbox One through ID@Xbox on Friday, February 13th (good luck with those escape plans). Check out the teaser trailer after the jump.

The Xbox games of 2014: Part V

Gamesof2014_Day5

We’re late, and it seems that’s become somewhat of a trend for us lately. Our Game of the Year awards weren’t doled out until January, and now our look forward at the XBLA and Xbox One XBLA-type games of 2014 is just making its way to you now in February. You were on your own when it came to planning out January’s releases, but now it’s time for our annual look ahead at the top downloadable games likely to arrive on an Xbox platform during the (remainder of) the year ahead. Read on to find out what you can expect out of Xbox over the next (not quite) 365.

Trials Fusion

Developer: RedLynx

First announced by Ubisoft at E3 2013 and heading to Xbox One and XBLA at an unannounced future date, Trials Fusion is the next game in RedLynx’s physics-based motorcycle racing series that found no small measure of success on Xbox Live Arcade. The first XBLA take on the series, Trials HD was extremely popular due to the fierce competition it inspired among players to hit the best runs on each of its 50 courses. That was nothing. RedLynx followed it up with Trials Evolution, which added an in-depth track editor and turned the franchise into a true obsession for its many fans.

With Trials Fusion‘s announcement trailer showing off player failure, it’s evident that RedLynx once again intends to scratch the competitive itch inside gamers as vehemently as motorcycle tires scratching the dirt of a Trials course.
