New details have emerged for Hothead Games’ The Baconing, a hybrid spinoff/sequel to the DeathSpank series. The game is the first in the series not to feature the titular character (DeathSpank) in the title, and follows him as he continues his adventures. The hero tries on all six Thongs of Virtue at once, inadvertently summoning an evil power. To conquer this new enemy DeathSpank must destroy five of the six thongs in the fires of bacon, whatever that means.
The Baconing will retain the two player co-op system, but will allow players to choose from four playable characters. Rumors have surfaced of Sparkles and Ninja Steve returning as well as other allies from the first two games, but there has been no word as to what role those characters will play. The game is due out sometime this summer on Xbox Live Arcade. Hit the jump for additional screenshots and box art.

Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team is an upcoming XBLA title tie in for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, unlike many digital game tie-ins though, this one is actually designed to be good. The standard formula of death and weapons is still here, and you must actually have completed one game of Kill Team in order to actually receive the ‘power sword’ in Space Marine.

Acclaimed movie and television star Sir Patrick Stewart, famous for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, now has a major role in the upcoming War of the Worlds game. His part is as the narrator, narrating the adventures of an average man trying to save his family from an alien invasion in 1953 London. The story will parallel the 1953 movie adaptation, but will follow different characters, locations, and a whole new story arc.
The game will be a 2D side-scrolling action-adventure, requiring players to use their wits to outsmart tripods, drones, and other alien menaces while crossing a devistaded landscape, but there will be a hint mechanism if you get stuck. The game will try and capture the fear and isolation of the original H.G. Wells novel by making players think fast or suffer an instant death. Today’s news came with some new screenshots, giving a glimpse in the game’s action. War of the Worlds will be released later this year. Check out the additional art and screenshots after the jump.
Trendy Entertainment recently released info that their publisher Reverb Publishing has submitted Dungeon Defenders for Microsoft certification. Well now we know it has been approved as it has an official page on Xbox.com. That means it should be a short time before we see it available on XBLA. You can download the new trailer why you’re there as well.
Check out all the info and a bunch of screenshots after the jump.

“The year is 3587, conflict spans the stars. Huge robot armies are locked in an enduring stalemate. At the center is a team of elite mercenaries fighting for the spoils of war: The Awesomenauts.”
Awesomenauts takes classic MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) gameplay and tosses it into the juicer along with 80s cartoon inspired 2D graphics and an extra large dose of personality; the resulting smoothie looks rather appetizing. As it’s a fairly recent genre, Awesomenauts will be the first 2D MOBA (games like Defense of the Ancients, Heroes of Newerth etc.) game and it looks to be remaining remarkablly faithful to the genre’s key components.
No details have been released as far as a final roster count, but we’re guessing… high. Ronimo, developers of Swords & Soldiers, hope to spread info-jelly on characters and other gameplay evenly until the game’s release later this year. Stay tuned for our impressions from the E3 show floor, however until then we’ve got some awesome screenshots for you after the jump. If you missed it, you can find the debut trailer here.
Climax Group has unveiled it’s next game, Bloodforge. This new title is wrapped around a dark Celtic world, filled with warriors, myths and legends. The pictures show an amazing art style at work here as well as a hint that much bloodshed is in our future. The only other thing that we know is that you will play as Crum, a man who must fight to escape the fate of the gods. From the screens and statements it is seems like God of War and 300 have come together for this one and that my friends could be a very good thing. Hit the jump for more screenshots.
