Warning: This post contains spoilers from both seasons of The Walking Dead
The first season of The Walking Dead was phenomenal. It provided one of the strongest narratives in video game history, full of memorable characters and emotionally charged moments. All around the world players instantly latched onto the harrowing and heartwarming tale of Lee and Clementine. The bleak world and tough choices made the game stick with you days after you played an episode. The overwhelmingly positive reception put Telltale on the map, moving them from a company that made niche adventure games to one that can handle some of today’s biggest franchises. The Walking Dead was a success in so many ways, meaning an eventual sequel was a given.
Despite standing on the shoulders of its amazing first season, The Walking Dead Season 2 is not living up to that potential. I loved every aspect of Season 1, which is why I’m disappointed I can’t find Season 2 nearly as captivating. So far, three episodes have released, and like last season they’ve all received critical praise. Unlike last season, I’m not feeling the hype; the story’s not engaging, the characters are underutilized, and the format’s becoming stale. The game’s saving grace is Clementine, but even that may be a problem.

The latest data feed from Pandora is in, and we’re delighted to reveal that it contains a mouthwatering new trailer for Telltale Games’ eagerly anticipated, story-driven, episodic adventure game Tales from the Borderlands, not to mention the first nuggets of detail.
The data we received confirms that Tales from the Borderlands, which is due for release this summer, will be set after the events of Borderlands 2 and will feature two playable characters whose stories will unfold alternately. The first of these characters is Fiona – a quick-witted, fast-talking (but probably loveable) rogue who’s out to make the biggest score of her life. The second is Rhys, a selfish and scheming Hyperion data-miner with big ambitions. It has also been confirmed that whilst neither of these characters is actually a Vault Hunter, they will both interact with famous characters from the Borderlands series including ZerO and more. (Here’s hoping for a fairly heavyweight cameo from Tiny Tina!)
In addition to this already rather exciting selection of Tales from media, XBLA Fans can also report that Telltale Games Producer Adam Sarasohn has recently confirmed a number of interesting details about the game over at the PlayStation Blog. In addition to hinting at the various possibilities that the vast Borderlands world might hold in store for players, the key details can be found after the jump.

Clementine has been through some tough times, but in the next episode of The Walking Dead she really will be In Harm’s Way. Telltale has released the first screenshots from the new episode, showing the terrors Clem and her group will face after the brutal finale of Episode 2. The episode will feature characters from Season 1’s 400 Days DLC, as well as more of Michael Madsen’s villainous William Carver. Episode 3: In Harm’s Way is coming soon, with the release date anticipated to be announced in the near future. Check out the screens after the jump.
