Xbox Live Arcade made Microsoft $122 million in revenue last year, accord to analysts at Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment (FADE). That’s a rise of 16% over how much they made in 2009, a combination of more consoles in the wild and more gamers beginning to try out digital distribution.
The biggest seller in terms of units was Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, a game notable for it’s lower than usual price point. Being 560 points when most new releases are 800 or 1200 points. Case Zero was also interesting in that it was an experimental prologue for a full retail game. The fact it was such a great success could mean we see similar games on XBLA in the future.
If you’re interested in the other top selling games on XBLA last year you can see them after the jump.
Back in September, Microsoft announced that they had commissioned Japanese developer Spike to create the next title in the Fire Pro Wrestling franchise for the 360 exclusively, notably on XBLA instead of retail, and with avatars instead of stylized 2D character models. What wasn’t announced, was if it would leave Japan. Full story after the break!
If a series of tweets from Indie Game Winter Uprising orgraniser Robert Boyd are to be believed Microsoft may be putting their weight behind the iniative sometime soon. While there’s no official confirmation as yet, Boyd’s tweets (which you can read for yourself below) heavily imply that Microsoft are planning to do something to help with the promotion, or at least the games that will be released before the 23rd of Decemeber.
Presumably this help will be in the form of advertising on the dashboard in a more prominent location, possibly the spaces usuall reserved for Deal of the Week sales and the like.
This would certainly be a win for the Indie Game developers, with the Uprising being a response to Microsoft’s lack of advertisement of the service.
Due to several delays the Uprising hasn’t been quite the success it was expected to be, as a result it was extended to the end of the month. You can find out more about the event and the games involved by visiting our Winter Uprising hub, which has now been updated with more reviews. Read More
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX was developed and published by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. It was released on XBLA on October 17th.
Over the years, we have seen hundreds of Pac-Man remakes. Most of them have been awful in the opinions of Pac-Man enthusiasts. The only iterations that have been well received have been the ones that stayed very close to the original recipe. Without a doubt, Pac-Man Championship Edition was the clear fan favorite of Pac-Man remakes. At least that was the case, until now. Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is everything a Pac-Man fan could have dreamed of, and more. Read More

It wouldn’t be a Game Feast unless it had a main course. Super Meat Boy looks to fill that void. We are beyond pumped to get our hands on the platformer next week. In the mean time, check out this awesome fan created video. If you were alive in the 90’s this video has invoke a bit of nostalgia within you. Just think poorly rendered VHS, over the top announcers, and pure gaming goodness.
It makes us hungry…

Explosionade, developed by Mommy’s Best Games, has been delayed once more after a previous delay for a near release bug. However, this time the delay doesn’t arise from their internal code glitches or bugs, rather more Xbox Live Marketplace issues. Nathan Fouls, the studio head of Mommy’s Best Games, has posted on the studio’s development log that the Top Downloads portion of Xbox Live Marketplace can be “stuck for days, sometimes over a week.” Fouls claims that their games could lose a potential revenue boost from this feature and it hurts the players as well. By not updating accurately, many gamers may miss popular titles and think that nothing currently popular is worthwhile. Explosionade has been delayed indefinitely until Microsoft has responded to this issue. Quite a shame as the game was looking quite good and fun, but now we may never get it or at least have to wait a while longer.
