Before Call of Duty and Battlefield 3, there were two games that revolutionized first person shooters. These games were Quake and Unreal Tournament. If you have ever played and love either of these games, a relatively new company IllFonic is sure to give you a blast from the past. The company, founded in 2007, is set to release their new arena first person shooter Nexuiz next month as a part of Microsoft’s XBLA House Party promotion. More info and screens after the break.
Yet more information on the games primed for release in this year’s XBLA House Party event has escaped from CES 2012, as well as additional footage of upcoming Kinect party-game Happy Action Theater. Reporting from the consumer tech tradeshow, Xbox Live’s Major Nelson takes a brisk trip around the Microsoft booth, interviewing developers from the five upcoming XBLA titles and exhibiting new footage of their games. IndiePUB games has recently revealed that 2D action platformer Capsized is heading for XBLA December 2011. Set in an immersive alien world teeming with bizarre life forms and strange landscapes, Capsized is said to be a classic platform game which combines control elements of first-person shooters with innovative physics-based combat. Presented in a unique hand-drawn art style, the story is that your ship has crash landed on a mysterious alien planet. Using a grappling hook, jetpack and ship supplies you must navigate through perilous environments and fight blood-thirsty creatures to save your crewmates and escape with your lives.
