The King of Fighter ’98 Ultimate Match (KOF98UM) was released by SNK/Playmore and retails for 800MSP.
KOF98UM is an updated port of the original Neo-Geo game. Released in 1998, it was the fifth game in the KOF series. But the series actually traces its roots further back to the venerable Fatal Fury series. Regardless, in its day KOF98 was a revelation for fighting games. It took everything that was good in the series and polished it to a new level. Simply put, there was no better team fighter around. Many would argue that it’s still the best team fighter if not one of the best fighters of all time. The debate will always rage amongst fighting fans as to the best, but all recognize KOF98 as a stellar achievement. KOF98UM adds a few fan favorite characters and rebalances a few others to make this the definitive version of KOF98.

Fans of the classic helicopter series Choplifter will be getting a brand new HD facelift this Autumn. Choplifter HD brings back the classic gameplay of playing a helicopter pilot rescuing survivors from POW camps and zombie outbreaks in 20 high-flying missions. The original creator, Dan Gorlin has been brought on by developer inXile Entertainment as a design consultant. “He has added valuable touches, including ways to connect the pilot to the rescued hostages in a meaningful way, which have helped us create a really rich Choplifter experience for players.” says inXile chief Brian Fargo. If you look closely past the break, you might see a classic XBLA character needing to be saved that’s quite ‘meaty’.

John Laster is out this week so Andrew Crews takes his place in the hosting chair. He’s joined by Ross Adams, Jonathan Cole and John Drawdy to talk about a ton of XBLA news that has come out over the past week. We’ve got new release dates, pricing, game announcements and a few pretty cool trailers. No one played much or any of last weeks release, Daggerdale, but we played a few other things so we talk about them a little.
Due to some technical issues we had to use the backup recording for this weeks show so apologies if the audio is a bit worse than usual.

Worms 2: Armageddon was developed and published by Team 17 and released on July 1, 2009 for 800 MSP.
A good multiplayer XBLA title facilitates fun with friends on the couch and Worms 2: Armageddon has couch-side fun for four friends even with only one controller. Worms 2, as with every other iteration of Worms, is a turn-based artillery shooter of the two dimensional sort sporting a lengthy campaign with 35 missions, tons of custom game customization options and a random map generator to ensure every non-campaign game will be a uniquely explosive experience. Worms 2: Armageddon employs the tried and true artillery game formula flawlessly (as it has been for years) and provides plenty of content to mix up the gameplay, and keep Worms 2 showing up as an answer to “What should we play?” time and time again. Zombie Studios is working on the next Blacklight game in the series and has decided to take it to a whole new market. They are now releasing it as a free-to-play (FTP) game. What is this you ask; this means that the game itself is free, but they charge you for; visual upgrades, special weapons and some items. With this module recently being aproved by Microsoft for arcade games; may this be one of the first in its format?
