Xbox 360 backwards compatibility coming to Xbox One

Today at Microsoft’s annual pre-E3 press conference, Xbox head Phil Spencer took the stage to announce that Xbox 360 backwards compatibility was coming to the Xbox One.

Similarly to the Xbox 360’s backwards compatibility feature with the original Xbox, only certain Xbox 360 titles will be available when the program launches, which is right now for Xbox preview program members. Xbox One owners at large will get access to the feature starting this holiday.

Monster Jam Battlegrounds review (Xbox 360)

Monster Jam Battlegrounds review (Xbox 360)

Monster Jam Battlegrounds was developed by Team 6 and published by GameMill Entertainment on Xbox 360. It was released on June 10, 2015 for $14.99. XBLA Fans’ Michael Cheng purchased a copy out of pocket for review purposes.

Monster Jam Battlegrounds Title

Monster Jam Battlegrounds is easily a contender for the worst game covered by XBLA Fans of 2015 and is possibly the front-runner. Never have I felt as hoodwinked by a game and had as much buyer’s remorse on an Xbox product before as I have now, and I have made many extravagant purchases such as multiple Xboxs and collector’s editions for games from different regions and brand new, out-of-print Xbox 360 games like Dead or Alive 4 and Rumble Roses. I’d venture to say this is a sick and cruel joke by Microsoft to state that the XBLA platform is dead, and everyone should move forward to Xbox One and ID@Xbox. How, in 2015, can anyone justify one minute and 10 seconds of loading time and then having another 15-second period of filler with a stadium cutaway before finally being able to play a level that lasts about 15-45 seconds? As if that isn’t bad enough, there is another 30 seconds of load time after finishing and leaving the level. This is only scratching the surface of Monster Jam Battlegrounds‘s world of problems.

Bloodstained is now Kickstarter’s most-funded video game ever

By  •  News

Bloodstained

A new champion has been crowned. With less than 35 hours to go in its Kickstarter campaign, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has received over $4.25 million in funding, making it Kickstarter’s most-funded video game to date, reports Polygon.

Bloodstained is the latest project from legendary game designer Koji Igarashi (aka IGA), best known for his work on the Castlevania series.

Fans were clearly ready for another Igarashi game, as the original funding goal of $500,000 was met in just one day.

Most of the stretch goals have since been reached as well, with only three remaining. These goals, which will be met if the campaign reaches $5 million, include prequel mini-games for PC and consoles, followed by mini-games for portables and then finishing up with the game including a rogue-like dungeon.

Mega Man Legacy Collection coming to Xbox One this summer

By  •  News

Capcom and Digital Eclipse will bring “faithful reproductions” of the first six Mega Man games to the Xbox One this summer, the two companies have announced. Digital Eclipse will develop Mega Man Legacy Collection, and Capcom will publish it on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo 3DS and PC.

In addition to the first six numbered Mega Man titles that originally released between 1987 and 1993, the blue bomber’s collection will feature new Museum and Challenge modes. Challenge Mode will remix gameplay sections from all six games with a scaling difficulty level. Museum Mode will showcase the series’ history through high-res art and original concept pieces.

“Every time a game gets re-released as a quick, easy cash-in, we devalue our heritage a little bit more,” said Digital Eclipse Head of Development Mike Mika. “We think games deserve better than that, and we suspect that the market is going to prove us right.”
