New footage showcasing story elements from the upcoming Xbox One exclusive Crimson Dragon debuted at the Tokyo Game Show this week. The spiritual successor to the Panzer Dragoon series takes place on the planet Draco, where remnants of humanity struggle against the planet’s winged natives in the face of extermination, harnessing the dragons’ power to fight back.
Crimson Dragon will be available upon launch of the Xbox One, November 22, retailing for $19.99. The long-developed title was previously slated to soar onto Xbox Live Arcade with required Kinect integration, but has since added controller support and asynchronous mutliplayer, focusing on Microsoft’s forthcoming console. Those who purchase and partake in the action before the end of the year, December 31, will receive an exclusive playable dragon.

Mighty No. 9, a spiritual successor to Capcom’s Mega Man series, will blast its way onto Xbox 360 sometime during the spring of 2015. The side-scrolling action-platformer being developed by Mega Man co-designer Keiji Inafune along with a collection of other series veterans, has hit its console version goal of $2.2 million on crowdfunding website Kickstarter.
Players will take control of Beck through a minimum of six stages — more will be added if stretch goals are hit — that can be played in any order. Beck is described by developer Comcept as “the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk.” Beck’s boyish appearance, arm cannon and ability to steal enemy attacks and use them for himself are all design elements lifted directly from Mega Man.
The Blue Bomber-starring series that inspired Mighty No. 9 is Capcom’s most popular of all time, having sold 29 million units as of June of this year. Things have been mostly quiet on the Mega Man front since Mega Man Legends 3 was canceled in July of 2011. Fans hungry for new Mega Man content and excited by the involvement of Inafune funded Mighty No. 9‘s initial $900,000 goal within just a few days of the game’s Kickstarter campaign’s beginning on August 31.
Inafune is serving as the project’s lead at Comcept, but he isn’t the only former Mega Man developer attached to the project. Comcept says that “veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, and with Mega Man in particular” have been charged with creating Mighty No. 9 in its entirety.

Indie developer Serellan’s methodical breach and clear shooter, Takedown: Red Sabre, has been delayed citing a last minute bug fix while submitting to Microsoft. Unfortunately, however minor it may be, this means the spiritual successor to the original Rainbow Six and SWAT series has lost its place in the Xbox Live Arcade release line. Speaking on behalf of the development team, Serellan’s public relations conduit stated that it expects to secure another release slot as soon as the developer resubmits the title to Microsoft, which should take place in the next few days.
Takedown was originally slated to launch on XBLA this coming Friday, September 20, in an effort to hit all targeted launch platforms simultaneously. Unfortunately the delay means you’ll have to wait a little longer to customize your squads and outline your tactics across the game’s many objective-based missions. We’re confident the finished product will be well worth the wait, as outlined in our hands-on E3 preview. In the meantime, you can check out the new recoil and movement preview video after the jump to get a weapon-handling head start.
