Humans and dinosaurs never roamed the Earth together, as the dinosaurs died out approximately 60 million years before our ancestors showed up. But that hasn’t stopped Studio Wildcard from putting people and dinos together in ARK: Survival Evolved, nor has a near extinction of split-screen gaming stopped the developer from promising the feature during the days of online play.

Studio Wildcard today updated its Xbox patch notes with the announcement that local and online split-screen multiplayer is coming to ARK: Survival Evolved as part of its next patch (v731.0). Wildcard told GameSpot last month that ARK would get split-screen play on Xbox One, but that it would only be for local play, not online.

“Many developers are abandoning split-screen local play, but we couldn’t stomach that for Ark!” Studio Wildcard Creative Director and co-founder Jesse Rapczak said at the time.

Wildcard elected not to divulge any details about this change when writing today’s announcement. XBLA Fans has reached out to the developer and will update this story should we receive a response.
