It’s a four man show this week as Damon Fillman and John Drawdy join myself and Perry. It’s a longer than usual episode too, we also ran into some technical issues so apologies if there are any audio oddities.
In this episode we discuss why it matters that Crysis isn’t coming to XBLA, or rather whether there needs to be more distinction on the different parts of the marketplace. We also hit on the Indie Game Summer Uprising as well as the recent public argument between Team Meat and Zen Studios.
We talk about last weeks releases, most of which we tried out or in my case reviewed. Then we round things out with this weeks twitter topic, which was provided by @Talus.

[podcast]https://xblafans.com/xblafancast/XBLAFancastEp30.mp3[/podcast]BloodRayne Betrayal was developed by Wayforward Technologies and published by Majesco Entertainment. It was released on September 7, 2011 and retails for 1200 MSP. A copy of the game was provided for review purposes.
You may not have heard of BloodRayne before so let us fill you in. The BloodRayne series consisted of a pair of fairly average action games on the last generation of consoles. There were also a pair of incredibly bad movies, helmed by noted video game movie-murderer Uwe Boll. BloodRayne gained at least a little attention for it’s somewhat unique premise of a sexy half vampire fighting nazis using her arm mounted blades. As the name implies, there was also a lot of blood.
So it came as a surprise when it was announced WayForward were working on a new BloodRayne game for Xbox Live Arcade. BloodRayne was known for it’s over the top violence and scantily clad protagonist Rayne. WayForward’s last notable console game was A Boy and His Blob, a game which was downright adorable, to the extent that it had a button just for hugging! It didn’t seem like a particularly good match, but once we saw some trailers of the game and got a glimpse of the art style and animation we were left wondering. Now we’ve played through BloodRayne Betrayal, we are still left wondering…
Majesco and Wayforward released their side-scrolling action title BloodRayne: Betrayal all around the world on Xbox Live Arcade earlier this week…except down under. The game mysteriously never made it …

According to a tweet earlier today from BloodRayne: Betrayal‘s official Twitter account, those lucky enough to have tickets to the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo will be able to take a shot at what looks to be one of the bloodiest titles of 2011. Originally scheduled to release sometime this month, developer WayForward recently announced that the game would be delayed until October 5. BloodRayne: Betrayal looks to be something of a departure from the rest of the series, featuring beautiful 2D graphics and a much more modest look for the previously buxom titular character. More information on the game can be found at the official Facebook page, including two developer diaries. Just in case you’re too excited to click your mouse button, we’ve included them here after the break. A third diary is promised, so if you just can’t wait until October to see more of BloodRayne keep an eye on their Facebook page. Look for more information about this gory 2D side-scroller as the release date approaches.
WayForward has made a name for themselves recently making solid 2D action platformers with very impressive 2D visuals. So it really shouldn’t come as any surprise that the first …
