The stellar Xbox Live Arcade shooter Section 8: Prejudice is getting its first title update. The patch addresses stability issues as well as some server-based issues. A full list can be seen after the jump. Coinciding with the update are a handful of hotfixes for the game. Ranked Swarm matches can now be played with two players, and servers will be more likely to try to keep friends of party members together when auto-balancing a game. OSR Unhinged review (XBLIG)

OSR Unhinged was developed by Riddlersoft and released on December 16, 2010 for 80MSP. A copy of the game was provided by the developer for review purposes.

OSR Unhinged hearkens back to the pre-Trials HD days; days where Elasto Mania and Dirtbike ruled the motorcycle physics game genre. The very soul of this game screams that it belongs in Newgrounds or some other flash-based game community, but at the same time it takes a page from its 3D brothers. It’s a simple, fun game that provides a lot of content and replay value at a very reasonable price.

The Fancy Pants Adventures review (XBLA)

The Fancy Pants Adventures was developed by Brad Borne and Over the Top Games, and published by EA 2D. It was released April 20, 2011 for 800MSP.

Yet another XBLA game based on a flash game, The Fancy Pants Adventures is the next installment of the popular online sidescroller. Although it’s a sequel no previous knowledge of the series is needed to play this game. This time, pirates invade Fancy Pants’ home of Squigglesville and kidnap his little sister. Although this game is likely to be overlooked by heavier hitters like Super Meat Boy, Fancy Pants proves yet again that good XBLA games can come from online flash games and bring improvements to boot.

Chester get’s new trailer and Kickstarter page.

By  •  Previews

What’s Chester you ask? Good question. Chester is a new and unique 2D platformer from indie developer Brilliant Blue-G. With completely hand drawn graphics that have been scanned into the game the visuals have a very personal and original feel. The uniqueness doesn’t stop there by any means,. Although hand drawn is how the art starts off  players will be able to unlock 18 different “styles” that can be applied to any level in real time. Styles range from blueprints to a LCD handheld system to 8-bit retro pixels.

XBLAFancast Episode 10

By  •  Podcast

A day late due to technical issues but we’ve got a jam packed show so let’s get to it!

Stephen Haberman joins John, Tyler and Andrew this week and kicks things off by talking a bit about Bastion which is now code complete. Andrew chimes in on Gatling Gears, which now has a date and price, while he’s a big fan of the game he’s not too keen on that price tag. What looked to be a Hydrophobia sequel was discovered (we now know it’s another revamp) and the guys discuss whether they think the original deserves one.

Fancy Pants Adventures and Section 8: Prejudice came out last week and the guys have been playing both, they share their fairly positive thoughts on both. Tangents into discussions of other games and even a little about reviewing games are also interspersed. Don’t forget to join us for our playdate on the 29th, details are here.

We’re back on iTunes! Please subscribe and leave us a review, we’ll be your bestest friends if you do.

By  •  News

Ever since Sam and Max, Telltale’s wonderful point-and-click adventures have been absent from the Xbox Live Arcade, with Puzzle Agent and more recently, Back to the Future hitting PSN and PC, with the 360 missing out. Luckily, things have changed, and we could be seeing these titles making their way over to us.

The publisher and developer have announced that they have signed a publishing agreement, so it can bring these great titles as well as any future projects from Telltale over to the 360, although it’s unconfirmed yet whether existing titles will make the jump.

Fortresscraft review (XBLIG)

Fortresscraft was developed by ProjectorGames and released on April 8, 2011 and costs 240 Microsoft Points.  A copy was provided by the developer for review purposes.

Minecraft is a game very familiar to PC gamers: a blocky, pixelated adventure that has spawned generous and creative user-created content that is as much as an homage to the title as it is to the gaming industry.  Console gamers have yet to experience the labor of love that is Minecraft — that is, until now.
