Duels 2012 will feature core deck editing

By  •  News

The next iteration of Duels of the Planeswalkers, dubbed Duels 2012, will see significant improvements over its 2009 predecessor. The most significant change was officially announced yesterday on the game’s community boards, thanks to a post from Community Manager WotC_Microbless, who confirmed that the new game would have the ability to remove cards from the core 60 card deck and replace them with cards unlocked as rewards for playing the game. As a result, players will be able to customize their decks in new and exciting ways.

Half-Minute Hero getting new visuals for XBLA release

Half-Minute Hero getting new visuals for XBLA release

Hot on the heels of announcing a release date and price, Marvelous Entertainment has detailed some of the changes we’ll see to the XBLA release of Half-Minute Hero. Rather Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax to give the game its full name.

The most notable change to the game is a brand new high def visual style. Gamepro got a early peak at the game and describe the graphics as “more in line with the flat, construction paper stylings of South Park”. Quite the change from the original PSP games 8-bit inspired visuals. For those not too enamoured with the new style there’s no need to fret as the option to play using the retro graphics will be available.

You can see more of the new visuals for yourself in the screenshot gallery after the jump.

Blocks That Matter review (XBLIG)

Blocks That Matter review (XBLIG)

Blocks That Matter was developed by Swing Swing Submarine and released on May 12, 2011 and costs 240 Microsoft Points.  A copy was provided by the developer for review purposes.

Sometimes our only salvation during times of need are the products of our own intuition — creative outputs that have lagged behind because of the brevity of our attention spans — in Blocks That Matter, this is a lowly driller-robot that is tasked with a mission to finally repay its Swedish creators that have been kidnapped by a shadowy duo with sinister intentions.

You are Tetrabot, a robot that resembles a washing machine with arms, legs, a drill and a spin cycle that crushes blocks that do in fact matter, because they are not only obstacles in Tetrabot’s adventure, but also the solutions to the game’s complex puzzles. You “collect” blocks by drilling into them, and then pause the action to place them into the playing field, providing pillars to jump off and reach higher terrain. The catch is that you can only place four blocks at a time and they must connect to each other. This one-of-a-kind gameplay element will make Braid veterans scratch their heads in delightful confusion, but also make them appreciate one of XBLIG’s most remarkable titles.

Bastion getting noticed

Bastion is a very unique game, and it is not easy to find one this hard to explain. Supergiant Games has made a game that will be built for the player, literally. While the player walks through the level, the walls, floor, items and creatures that populate every room and hallway are stacked in front of him. So, if you were to stop moving, there would be no new areas to go. You would simply see only what has already been laid out in from of you.
