The new year has officially started at XBLA Fans with four new games and one Game Preview releasing for you to sink your teeth into this Friday. Not only that but we’re mixing things up this year by providing you with some quick look teaser videos and giving you a chance to win copies of the latest games on Xbox One. So without further ado..
First up we have Adult Swim’s Rise & Shine, which was developed by SuperMegaTeam. The game is being described as a “think and gun” that combines elements of arcade shooters, bullet hells, and puzzle platformers to create a new blend of strategy and viscera. Players take on the role of Rise, a young boy who lives on Gamearth, the world of the classic videogame characters. He suddenly finds himself in the middle of a war against the Space Grunts from Nexgen planet, and with the help of the legendary gun, Shine, he sets out to stay alive and save his planet.
Next we have Sylvio from Swedish game developers Stroboskop. Sylvio is a first-person horror set in an abandoned family park which has been shut down since a landslide in 1971. Players take on the role of Ghost recorder, Juliette, who manages to capture the voices of the dead on her reel-to-reel recorder in the hopes of investigating the tale of a cursed land and a wicked family cult. Players will be able to conduct seances, search for voices in the static, and analyze your recordings in this open world exploration game.
Dead Effect 2 was also released today. In this action sci-fi shooter from BadFly Interactive Train, players will be able to chose from three playable characters, which can be developed by collecting and upgrading countless weapons, gear and body implants, in order to take control of a monster-infested ship. The story sees players revisiting the ESS Meridian, from the original Dead Effect (which was not released on consoles) as something dark brews deep within the recesses of the spaceship, threatening to enslave your mind and bend it to its will.
Next up we have the aptly named Friday Night Bullet Arena from Red Nexus Games Inc. Tonight, and presumably any night after today, gamers can challenge their friends the secure ultimate space victory in this local multiplayer game for 2-4 players. There is a twist however, the game features only one bullet so if you shoot it, you’re going to have to catch it again. Friday Night Bullet Arena features 10 different worlds, each with different scenery and stage hazards 250+ different levels for players to shoot catch shoot catch shoot catch shoot their way to victory.
If you fancy a shot (ahem), pick it up here for $9.99.
