It’s officially all over now: Fable Legends is no longer a game. Lionhead Studios emailed beta participants yesterday informing them that the beta could “no longer be accessed.”

“And so our story ends,” the studio tweeted yesterday morning. “#FableLegends is now offline. Thanks to everyone who signed up to the closed beta. You are all Legends.”

Refunds are now being doled out to all players who made in-game purchases while the beta ran, according to a statement from Lionhead. “The Xbox and Windows Store teams are currently processing refunds for all players who made Gold purchases in the game.

“Some players may have already received their refund, and you can check by looking at your Microsoft account. If you have not yet received your refund, please be patient and check back again soon.”

Gamers in need of a refund should check for a message from the developer in their Microsoft account, which can be accessed online or on their Xbox Ones. Lionhead recommends that anyone with questions about the refund process contact the Xbox customer support team.

“All of us here at Lionhead Studios would like to thank you for participating in the closed beta and being a part of the game’s development,” continues Lionhead’s farewell statement to Fable Legends players. All stories have to end eventually, but the memories of Heroic triumphs and Villainous plots will last forever. Thank you for your support — you are all Legends!”

Despite Microsoft announcing its intention to close down Lionhead Studios last month, hope recently arose that Fable Legends development would continue with the game still possibly seeing a final release. It now appears as though that will not be the case after all.
