Trials Evolution: Origin of Pain preview

Trials Evolution: Origin of Pain preview

Trials Evolution: Origin of Pain looks awesome. Like trade-in-your-AAA-title-for-MSP awesome. But for all that awesome the details of what it contains haven’t been highly publicized. Sure, everyone’s covered the obligatory “Here’s an announcement” post, but most of those didn’t go into much detail as to what the DLC will actually contain. We did some digging, and here’s what we know so far. There’s also a screenshot gallery and a summary at the bottom of the preview, so be sure to hit the jump for all the dirt.

Origins of Pain takes place on an all-new island–one that is 4km x 4km in size. It’s massive. By comparison the island that was shipped with the game is only 2km x 4km. We’re getting double the sandbox. Twice the playground. Two times the… well, you get the point. 36 new Trials tracks challenge players on this massive battlefield, and RedLynx once again shows us just what the in-game editor can do with a little imagination. Settings span from a circus to an aircraft graveyard. And it won’t be just Trials tracks. 10 new Supercross courses and an unknown number of Skill Games will be included. One image given to select press showed the rider grappling along a la Bionic Commando. Hold your girlish squeals in. There’s more.

Techland and Ubisoft’s Call of Juarez was a great game. Its prequel, Bound in Blood, was quality too. The Cartel changed the setting and disappointed fans. So in a surprise move the series is making a jump to digital with Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.  The game brings the series back to the old west; players will control an as-yet-unnamed bounty hunter going after famous outlaws like Jesse James and Billy the Kid. Hit the jump for the first screenshots.

Meet the stars of Twisted Pixel’s Lococycle

By  •  Media, Videos, News

LocoCycle is probably the most aptly name ever created. It stars two sentient motorcycles: I.R.I.S., the game’s protagonist, and the evil S.P.I.K.E. Well, it also co-stars Pablo, I.R.I.S.’s mechanic. He’s the poor chum seen being dragged behind I.R.I.S. in the recent gameplay reveal. The game’s two-wheeled stars were brought to life by Austin-based Southern Metal Choppers, along with special effects wizards Legacy Effects. I.R.I.S. (above) weighs in at 600 points and, according to our own Nick Santalego and Perry Jackson, is stunning up-close. Below is S.P.I.K.E., the game’s villain. The motorcycles are voiced by gaming personality and journalist Lisa Foiles and the Terminator T-1000 himself, Robert Patrick, respectively.

LocoCycle’s beginnings sprang years ago from a simple gag gift. Josh Bear, Creative Director at Twisted Pixel Games, received a copy of the (terrible) movie Torque from the studio’s Art Director. For some reason Bear sat through the movie, bad motorcycle fights and all. He had a nightmare that night and awoke the next morning with the initial vision for LocoCycle. Production on the game began roughly nine months ago.

*UPDATE* Joe Danger: The Movie goes gold, releasing this September 14

By  •  Media, Videos, News

Joe Danger: The Movie, the sequel to last year’s Joe Danger: Special Edition (which itself was an update/port of Joe Danger from the PlayStation 3) has gone gold. Developer Hello Games tweeted the good news yesterday, and the studio’s Sean Murray further spoke of the game’s progress and development with TheSixthAxis. He confirmed this would be the last we would see of Joe. “I’m not going to work on a new Joe Danger game again,” stated Murray, “which is really sad and amazing at the same time.”

The game takes daredevil Joe Danger’s antics to the next level. In Joe Danger: The Movie the lovable stuntman takes on Hollywood. He’ll ski down a dangerous slope, chase bad guys on his police motorcycle, and even ride a mine cart a la Indiana Jones. We adored the first game, so we’re really looking forward to seeing what else Joe gets himself into. Hit the jump for a refresher trailer.

UPDATE: We’ve received confirmation that Joe Danger: The Movie will launch September 14 for 1200 MSP.

Bellator MMA patch details

By  •  News

Bellator: MMA Onslaught didn’t exactly win us over with its sloppy gameplay. While it looked pretty, that polish didn’t translate to the controls. But like any good developer/publisher team Kung Fu Factory and 345 Games listened to complaints and released a title update that addresses these concerns. Of the update they stated:

Community feedback has been at the forefront of 345 Games’ development since the launch of Bellator: MMA Onslaught on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in July. Well, players have spoken and 345 Games has listened and answered with a new game patch for XBLA and PSN users that is now available. The patch incorporates the suggestions and comments 345 Games has received through their social media networks over the past month.

Today’s patch is only the beginning of what’s in store for Bellator: MMA Onslaught. Over the next few months, 345 Games will continue to listen to its community on further enhancements and updates as it preps for a significant announcement toward the end of 2012.

Hit the jump for a full list of fixes and updates.
