XBLIG Monthly Roundup is a feature of five of the best Indie games from the past month of releases on the marketplace. There’s a lot to sift through on the XBLIG marketplace, so let us tell you what we found during our daily rounds. These are some of the best games that XBLIG has to offer for the month of July, 2011:

———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Vizati is a unique puzzle game where you match three blocks of the same color by rotating the board and letting gravity work for you. Each level has a very specific set of moves that will result in level completion, which can be frustrating. But the developer made each level very short with only a few moves needed for completion making things a little more user friendly. As you progress through the puzzles, a small storyline will play out underneath the board adding a nice touch to the already artistic and visually pleasing background. For only 80MSP, this is a “must buy” for any fan of the puzzle genre.

Star Ninja is a game that could easily be compared to the gameplay style of Angry Birds. You play as a stationary ninja in each level with a set of stationary pirates that you must take out with your limited amount of ninja stars. The ninja stars will bank off various environment pieces and trigger hazards like explosive barrels causing massive destruction. Over 50 levels are included and at only 80MSP, this is a great value that you should definitely look into.

Production Panic is a puzzle/strategy game where your goal is to find an efficient way to get certain goods to certain shipping bays in a factory with minimal resources. Each level has movable conveyor belts that will need constant repositioning in order for you to manage each frantic situation. Don’t be fooled by the looks of this game, Production Panic is not a casual puzzler in any way. This game will seriously test your speed and your ability to multitask. If you’re a more advanced puzzle/strategy gamer, then Production Panic may be a game worth checking out.

Avatar Ninja 2 is a quick reflex game where your avatar runs from left to right and you must avoid obstacles to stay alive. Similar to the iPhone hit, Cananbalt, This game is very simple and very addicting. You press certain buttons to avoid certain obstacles, all while constantly pressing the “A” button to sustain your rhythm, which acts as your life bar. Along the way you will earn the ability to unlock upgrades for your avatar in an in-game store making each run a little easier to set high scores with. If you liked Doritos Crash Course, then you might want to give this demo a try.

Quick Draw is a very simple game that focuses on quick reflexes. You can play single player against increasingly difficult AI or you can try your reflexes in local multiplayer against a friend. The goal of the game is simple, shoot your opponent first and live to talk about it. The button inputs will change every round and distractions will be added to try to entice an early start penalty. It’s as simple as a game can be, but nonetheless it’s still fun. A 16-bit look is themed throughout the entire game giving Quick Draw a nice sense of nostalgia for any gamer who can remember back when most games were as simple as this title. This game is definitely an acquired taste, so we recommend giving the demo a shot to see if Quick Draw is right for you.
