What we are playing: October 30
What we are playing is a weekly column that appears each weekend. Various staff members let the world know what games had them hooked the past week and which ones they look forward to.
Christine Mitchell – I’ve not been playing much this week but dabbled in some Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes it’s well good fun but boy, does the computer cheat! I also trialled The War of the Worlds, looks gorgeous but seems a bit frustrating so I’ll pass on an actual purchase.
Steve Melton – I’m finally realizing just how powerful Halo Reach‘s Forge tools are when you take some time to work with them. I only wish they would release a different themed Forge World, like a human setting. Picked up Daytona USA too, Not a big fan of the D-Pad-like response from the analog sticks but it’s fun nonetheless. The Karaoke mode is hilarious.
Perry Jackson – I’ve been playing so much XBLA! Been working on reviews for The War of the Worlds and Guardian Heroes and one’s amazing while the other is super frustrating. Find out which is which soon as I’m counting the days to Uncharted 3.
Nicholas DePetris – It’s been a big gaming week for me. In XBLA-land, I finished up Super Meat Boy (I am a golden god!), beat Outland, and am inching closer to 200/200 in Torchlight. I’ve also been playing a lot of Lego Indiana Jones and picked up Batman: Arkham Asylum to play over the weekend. I know, I know. Arkham Asylum is soooo 2009.
James Heiger – Daytoooooona!!!!!!!
John Drawdy – This week, I have been finishing up my five skull play through on Orcs Must Die! and still hacking away at MLB Bobblehead Battle. I finally got to play a little bit of the new Batman and a few minutes of Dungeon Defenders, the hype on both those games made my hands on time disappointing to say the least.
Ross Adams – Finally picked up Orcs Must Die!, really enjoying it. The combination of traps and powers are great fun, the wind belt especially is super satisfying.
Nathan Bowring– All this talk about Batman: Arkham City has made me go back to finish the challenge mode in Arkham Asylum. I’m also trying my hand at machinima in Halo Reach, which is going better than expected.
Ben Fisher – Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City, Dead Island, Orcs Must Die! (when I can) and cannot wait for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim!
Jonathan Cole – Most of my time this week has been spent wrestling between my love of Battlefield 3‘s multiplayer and contempt for its campaign. Aside from that, I’ve been trying to finish Fable III, revisiting The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in preparation for Skyrim, and slowly hammering away at Orcs Must Die!
Ryan Reynolds – Too much! I finished one run through Batman: Arkham City, I’m STILL playing Gears of War 3, and I picked up Battlefield 3. I also picked up Costume Quest while it was on sale this week and I’m loving it. Look out for my review coming soon.
