Weapon of Choice is a fast paced side scrolling shoot’ em up reminiscent of favorites like Gunstar Heroes and Contra. The player character is tasked with protecting the world from a horde of invading aliens. There are branching levels giving players the ability to choose where they want to, each direction leading to a different ending. There are seven unique characters, each has a unique gun and double jump. This gives players a very diverse way to play through the levels.

Chus Dynasty is a four player fighter along the lines of games like Small Arms or Super Smash Brothers. Each character has unique moves and fighting styles which means everyone can find a character that fits their style of fighting. Players fight through several levels taking on the other fighters to learn the origins of the gods.

Earth Shaker is a very simple idea. Move your character around the stage collecting all the diamonds and then make your way to the exit, think Crystal Defender meets Dig Dug. This sounds simple enough until you add in the fact that each stage is larger then the screen so you have no clue where everything is. With boulders to crush you, enemies to kill you and walls to keep you out each stage gets a little harder then the last.

Leave it to Stir Fry Games to offer the unique indie titles that just about everyone have a little hankering for. SFG Soccer is the simplistic soccer title that many casual gamers looking for a quick fix will consider picking up. Stir Fry has offered a few titles that have featured the ability to play with your avatar. This game however, does not. Without the avatar support, did they come up with a unique and interesting character design?

As any shmup (shoot-em’-up) fan will likely agree, the best part of any shooter is the boss battle. In a “bullet hell” shooter, with an obscene amount of bullets coming at you from different angles and various speeds, this is even more so. So why not cut through those boring levels and skip right to the boss? How about we also make that boss change their tactics every time? Ok…you’ve got my attention.

That was the thinking behind Retrocade: Datastream Y2K600, to offer classic gaming with multitudes of different games all behind one idea: simple retro fun. Soulcaster 2 is a retro combination of tower defense, rpg, and action-adventure gaming. It was released by Magical Time Bean in December 2010. Soulcaster 2 puts the player in the role of the soulcaster. But it is the souls that are the real stars of the show. The soulcaster, for all his power, is essentially helpless. He must summon the souls of ancient warriors to defend him. These come in three archetypical forms. The warrior excels at close quarters combat and plugging small pathways that would otherwise be streaming with enemies. With the enemies held at bay the archer can safely pick off enemies if she has a clear line of sight. Finally the alchemist lobs explosives over obstacles to cause area of effect damage.
These three souls are the soulcaster’s only defense while navigating some seriously treacherous terrain. The souls all have three attributes that can be powered up using the money collected on the field, hence the rpg element. But the souls must remain stationary and fight from their assigned position for the tower defense element. Only the soulcaster is free to roam the battlefield which is a good thing because the situation will get too dicey for him to stay put anyway.

The Wizards Who Fell in a Hole is a simple story about two moronic wizards who while on a journey happen to fall into a hole. Once in the hole they discover a world of monsters trying to keep them from getting out. Just like games of the past such as Bubble Bobble for the NES this classic style platformer has a simple concept, kill all the enemies on each of a 100 levels and get the wizards back home.
