Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime was developed by Behaviour and published by Atari. It was released on March 23rd, 2011 for 800MS points. A review code was provided by the publisher.
Editors Note: We have contacted both the publisher and the developer and we have been informed they are looking into some of the technical bugs we encountered. At this time, we feel there are too many problems with this game to recommend a purchase; however, should the game patch these issues we are willing to look back into it as we did with Hydrophobia: Pure.
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is a top-down/dual-stick shooter that places you in charge of a new rookie Ghostbusting squad. The goal is to venture through 12 levels in order to take down Dumazu the Destroyer who is causing ghosts everywhere to be nuisances. Most gamers probably don’t even care about the story though because let’s face it; it’s a Ghostbusters game. You rid the town of ghosts one at a time until society can start to function again. After seeing artwork of the characters and screenshots, we finally have a release date for Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. Set to come out March 23rd at an undisclosed price, players take on the roles of 4 rookie Ghostbusters to save New York City. With 4-Player Co-Op, it’s looking to make busting feel good. “In Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, we are introducing an entirely new look and gameplay experience on digital platforms that will impress new and loyal Ghostbusters fans alike.” says Atari President and CEO Jim Wilson. Atari announced their new rag-tag team of paranormal investigators today for the upcoming XBLA title, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, coming to XBLA on March 23rd. Atari has released some more screenshots for their upcoming title Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. These shots show off some of the different boss characters players will face off against in the game. According to Atari you will be able to defeat these “gigantic bosses” with “a medly of highly destructive weapons including the Proton Stream, Plasma Inductor and the Fermion Shock”. Along with a trailer (which you can see below) Atari have released some more details about the upcoming Ghostbusters downloadable sequel, Sanctum of Slime. Up to four players will take on the role of a rookie who has been hired to save New York.
Gameplay will consist of taking on jobs, exploring the various haunted enviroments and of course bustin’ ghosts. If the trailer is anything to go by there will also be sequences involving the Ecto-4, whether this is an on-rails sequence or not is unclear however.
The rookies will have to work together to bring down huge bosses, using an assortment of weaponary including the classic Proton Streams aswell as the Plasma Inductor and the Fermion Shock. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is scheduled to be released in Spring 2011, expect more coverage on XBLAFans between now and then. Check out the debut trailer below.
