Introducing a universe through XBLA

While playing Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team this past week something occurred to me; Xbox Live Arcade is the perfect venue for developers and publishers to introduce players to a gaming universe. Kill Team is a perfect example. Here you have a straight forward old school arcade style co-op shooter set in the Warhammer universe. I bought it because I had always read a lot about the Warhammer universe online and because I’m a fan of shooters. I invited a buddy down, we had our fun with the game and I quickly picked off the last few achievements in Kill Team by myself in the following days to officially “complete” everything the game had to offer.

Dead Rising 2: Case West Review (XBLA)

Dead Rising 2: Case West was developed by Blue Castle Games Inc. and published by Capcom.  It was released on XBLA on December 27th.

Dead Rising 2: Case West is the second helping of small stand-alone games based off Capcom’s popular Dead Rising franchise.  With Dead Rising 2: Case Zero setting record numbers in sales, the idea of a second bite-sized game left gamers begging for more.  As a first of it’s kind, Case Zero showed that small downloadable versions of full retail titles can be a serious force in the XBLA world.  Dead Rising 2: Case West promised a better experience than Case Zero by adding Frank West and co-op play to the formula.  Case West may have added a few extra features, but describing it as a better experience is a bit of a stretch. Dead Rising 2: Case West Weapon Combo Guide

This guide is geared towards helping players build all weapon combos.  However, the “Handy Man” achievement for building all the new combos is a little tricky.  In order to get the achievement, build ONLY the following seven weapons:  Shocker, Zap N’ Shine, Lightning Gun, Reaper, Impact Blaster, Sterilizer, Laser Gun.

I realize you have to build the Laser Sword and the Lightning Gun to then build the Laser Gun, and that is fine for you to do.  If you build any other weapon before these 7 (8 if you count Laser Gun components), the achievement won’t unlock.  You will then have to move your save file to another memory unit or delete it from your hard drive and start a new game from a memory device that contains no previous Case West data.  Then you will need to build the previously listed 7 weapons in order to unlock this achievement.
