Telltale and Mojang are at it again. After the success of Minecraft: Story Mode, it only makes sense that the two studios would come together again to bring players back into that blocky world. Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 will once again follow the continuing heroic adventures of Jesse and friends, although some time has passed since their last get-together. With newfound responsibilities taking up most of their time, they haven’t been able to hang out and explore like they used to. That all changes when an ancient gauntlet latches on to Jesse’s hand, leading him/her on a dangerous new journey filled with old friends and new faces.
Much of the original voice cast will be returning to reprise their roles. Patton Oswalt and Catherine Taber return as the male and female version of the protagonist (respectively) alongside returning friends portrayed by Ashley Johnson and Scott Porter. Youtube personalities will once again be making appearances in the game, including returning Season One cameos Stampy Cat and stacyplays.
Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 will be a new five-part standalone adventure which can be enjoyed without playing the first season or traditional Minecraft. Episode 1: Hero in Residence will premiere July 11 on Xbox One. The series will initially only be available to download, with the retail season pass disc coming in the fall.
