Microsoft’s Games With Gold program, in which Xbox Live Gold (XBLG) members are given one Xbox One and two Xbox 360 games each month as part of their subscription, is turning two years old next month. To celebrate, the console holder is going to begin giving XBLG members two Xbox One games every month.
For July, subscribers will be able to download Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for free throughout the month and new puzzle-platformer So Many Me from July 16 through the end of the month. The titles are valued at $29.99 and $14.99, respectively.
Over on Xbox 360, XBLG members will continue getting two games a month going forward. Next month those games will be Plants vs. Zombies for the first half of the month and Gears of War 3 for the second half.
With Xbox 360 releases slowing down and Microsoft and its retail partners doing everything they can to convince gamers to jump from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, a higher focus on Xbox One titles for the Games With Gold program was likely inevitable. For now the program will continue running unchanged on Xbox 360, but you have to imagine that it won’t do so forever.
