Konami’s Puddle gets a release date and screenshots

Konami has revealed that the XBLA puzzler Puddle will be releasing later this month on January 23. After beginning its life as a pet project by six students at France’s Enjmin video game school, Puddle was picked up for full-fledged development by Neko Entertainment.

Players will have to juggle guiding a virtual puddle of rocket fuel (thus the name) and a blob of radioactive goo through precarious environments full of heat beams and electric currents. Although gamers won’t be able to see any given level in its entirety when starting a new puzzle, Konami has offered up a glimpse of what will be seen in the new batch of images below.

Is EA reviving Mutant League Football?

By  •  Rumors

Although Joe Flacco bore a striking resemblance to the living dead when his Ravens edged out the Texans in their AFC Divisional playoff game last weekend, that’s not actually him wearing a different jersey depicted in the above image. No, what you’re looking at is the Easter egg awarded to players for completing “Blitz Gauntlet” mode in the XBLA and PSN title, NFL Blitz. The unlockable zombie team is an obvious nod to the 1993 Sega Genesis classic, Mutant League Football.

Naturally, its inclusion has led to speculation over whether or not this is EA’s way of teasing a new Mutant League release of some sort. Kotaku’s Owen Good took it upon himself to investigate the matter; in doing so he discovered that a number of designers within the studio are indeed interested in such a project. This does not, however, in any way confirm that a remake or sequel is definitively on the way.

Iron Galaxy’s next project appears to be Wreckateer

By  •  News

One of the next projects coming from Iron Galaxy — the studio that brought Super Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition to XBLA in August — appears to be an XBLA game entitled Wreckateer. Siliconera sniffed out the game’s existence thanks to a listing on the Australian classification board.

The listing names Microsoft Game Studios as the publisher, which means it will likely be exclusive to the Xbox 360. A quick peek at the developer’s website confirms Microsoft is indeed the publishing partner. “We are currently developing an original game for Microsoft Studios,” reads the site. No specific details on the project are available at this time. However, Iron Galaxy has taken to Twitter to announce that they will be making, well, announcements next month.
