The launch trailer for City Interactive’s upcoming first-person shooter Alien Rage has arrived, briefly recounting the events that lead to the titular rage of the alien kind. Humanity has jumped into open armed-conflict with another species over resource rights on some distant asteroid. To press your claim, there’s all manner of triggers to squeeze and explosives to toss in what’s being touted as a return to the old-school shooter.

Now the bad news. Co-Optimus reports that Alien Rage has omitted any sort of multiplayer from the console offering, which will be released sometime after the initial PC launch as a single player endeavor. Originally slated to provide a cooperative component, it’s looking more and more like the scope was scaled back, as the only multiplayer to be found in Alien Rage will come via the PC version. So, bad news all around for Xbox Live Arcade fans looking to kick it old-school with a buddy – but hey, it’s still awfully pretty.

We got hands-on with Alien Rage earlier this year, and while the spirit of the old-school FPS was alive and well, we found the game stuck somewhere between its fondness for yesterday and the mechanics of today. You can find our full thoughts on the forthcoming shooter right here.
