As if imaginary weaponry like robotic soldiers or religious artifacts filled with God’s wrath weren’t terrifying enough, somebody always has to make matters worse and put them in the hands of imaginary Nazis. Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics takes this idea to Lovecraftian extremes, envisioning a twisted World War II where the Germans conquered their enemies by summoning eldritch terrors. Cthulhu siding with the enemy is unsurprising yet still somehow disappointing, so hopefully the Allied Forces are wise enough to make their own Elder God alliance with Dagon or Yog-Sothoth.
Taking its inspiration from the original tabletop game, Auroch Games is re-imagining its bleak alternate history as a turn-based RPG. As a unit of super soldiers known as the Charlie Company, players will go on a worldwide tour of duty to fight evils both worldly and otherworldly. Whether an obnoxious American with arcane bullets or a demonically possessed Frenchwoman, every member of your squad is a fully fleshed-out character and the best of the best on the battlefield. The main team will be aided by allied troops, including the covert ops Badger’s Commando Unit and the demon hunting Keijn tribe. Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics will be unleashed unto the mortal world in Q4 2018. For a brief glimpse at the war to come, check out the announcement trailer (which gives off some serious Black Sails vibes) below.
