XBLA sales data for week beginning January 30
Worldwide Xbox Live Arcade sales data for the week beginning January 30 has been published revealing the top 20 games on XBLA and XBLIG. The Simpsons Arcade leads the pack ahead of Bastion, Fruit Ninja Kinect, the ever-popular Pinball FX2 and robot-brawler REAL STEEL, while a glut of mining games rule on XBLIG.
Supergiant’s lauded action/role-player Bastion took second place, no doubt buoyed by a week-long price cut, while Double Fine’s madcap Kinect mini-game compilation Happy Action Theater notched a respectable 7th. Doom has maintained its position in the top 20 since its re-emergence mid-January, this week fending off relative new-comers NBA Jam: On Fire Edition (12th) and Denki’s Quarrel (15th). Elsewhere, top 20 stalwarts Trials HD and Castle Crashers retained spots in the rankings (6th and 9th respectively). The positions are based on copies sold rather than time played, which makes their continued presence all the more impressive. (Castle Crashers was released in 2008 and Trials HD 2009.)
Over on the XBLIG scene, CastleMiner Z seized pole position with Total Miner: Forge in second, CastleMiner third and the hugely successful FortressCraft – having recently cannoned through the $2 million sales barrier – in fourth. Is mining the secret to success on the Indie Games channel?
