Spanish developer Tragnarion Studios has announced that Scourge: Outbreak, a futuristic third-person shooter the team is currently working on, will be coming to XBLA, PSN and Mac “around August/September,” a company representative has informed XBLA Fans. The studio is still working on nailing down a precise date, but says it will be at some point during that late Q3 window.

Semantics aside, Outbreak players will take control of Echo Squad, a topflight mercenary outfit, in an attempt to take down the dastardly blokes over at the Nogari Corporation. Tragnarion describes the Nogari military forces and aliens that have invaded the company’s facilities as “insurmountable” adversaries. Luckily, Echo has an inside man that will work with gamers to stop Nogari and pry Ambrosia, “a powerful new energy source,” from its tight grip. Securing this double agent will be a necessary step in putting a stop to the corporation’s ambitions of worldwide domination.

The game will feature four playable characters, which, yes, means four-player co-op is supported for the game’s six-hour campaign. Each of the four are said to have “their own agenda and influence on the story,” which will play out in flashback sequences. A competitive multiplayer component will also be part of the experience, tossing up to eight players into rounds of deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture-the-flag.
