New details on Burnout Crash have surfaced. We can now confirm that the game is being developed by none other than Criterion Games, daddy to the Burnout series. We speculated back in April that this would be an Xbox Live Arcade title, and we can finally confirm that is. But don’t expect this to be the Burnout you know and love. This one looks to be a top down vehicular havoc game in the spirit of the Flash title Roadkill Revenge. “Burnout CRASH! is a crazy mix of pinball and game shows,” said Richard Franke, Creative Director.
The game will make use of the Autolog feature found in 2010’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. The feature will be used to complete challenges between friends, and presumably to gloat as well. But we’re trying not to be disappointed. As much as we like to see developers try new things we were hoping for something akin to Burnout 3 or Burnout Revenge. Still, it’s best not to judge a game before it’s in our hands, and Criterion has never let us down before. We’re remaining optimistic. Burnout Crash hits digital shelves this fall.
