As of today, four more backwards compatible Xbox 360 games will be getting the supercharged treatment for Xbox One X. Additionally, players on Xbox One X will get an extra setting to control the enhancement level.
Previously, games like Halo 3, Gears of War 3 and Mirror’s Edge had been given the enhanced look on Xbox One X, letting them run at an increased resolution with 9x the original pixel count compared to the Xbox 360 version. For anyone counting, 9x the original 720p is 4K. These enhancements are all within the Xbox 360 emulator itself, part of every Xbox 360 game download on Xbox One, meaning it doesn’t touch the original game code.
Today, four more games are getting the treatment, raising the total to 11 enhanced Xbox 360 games on Xbox One X. The four new additions are: Crackdown, Fable Anniversary, Forza Horizon, and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
This means the complete list of 11 looks like this:
- Assassin’s Creed
- Crackdown
- Fable Anniversary
- Fallout 3
- Forza Horizon
- Gears of War 3
- Halo 3
- Mirror’s Edge
- Oblivion
- Skate 3
- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Also being added today is the aforementioned setting allow control over whether the Xbox One X should focus on enhancing the game graphically, or optimising for performance. The graphics setting is on by default, and when off (set to “performance”) its output will be comparable to the Xbox One S or base Xbox One.
To access the setting, open the familiar Xbox 360 guide (on an Xbox One, this is done by pressing the Menu and View buttons at the same time) and the settings will look like this:
While there are now 11 Xbox 360 games enhanced for Xbox One X, the complete list of backwards compatible totals 460.
