There have been rumours floating around for a while about classic SEGA games being released on XBLA, but SEGA have finally made it official and provided us with some new information to boot. The releases are set to make up part of a new “Sega Ages Online” series, and include six games released in two packs of three. The first pack consists of Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Revenge of Shinobi and Super Hang-On will be released in a collection called SEGA Classic Collection for 800 MSP. Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Wonder Boy in Monster World and Monster World IV will be released together in the aptly named Wonder Boy Collection also for 800 MSP. Each version will remain faithful to the original but with new features added such as Jukebox mode and Trial mode where you can compete against others for the top score.

These details are for the Japanese versions so it is possible a western release will see different box art or name changes. It will also be interesting to see if any further collections will be released for the Sega Ages Online series perhaps at a later date as Golden Axe, Golden Axe 3Streets of Rage and Streets of Rage 3 have also been spotted on a PEGI ratings board . Both of the announced collections are pencilled in for a Spring 2012 release.
