With the rumors of a potential PlayStation 4.5 in the works, many have begun to wonder if there will also be an upgraded version of the Xbox One. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer gave his thoughts on the idea of an upgraded Xbox One and why he isn’t a big fan of the idea during a panel at Microsoft’s Build 2016 Developer Conference.
“I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a Half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers,” Spencer explained, “I don’t know anything about any of the rumors that are out there, but I can understand other teams’ motivations to do that. For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people – an upgrade.”
Even if a PlayStation 4.5 does end up being announced in the near future, it seems that Microsoft at the moment is content with how the Xbox One is performing and has no plans to follow suit with the idea of a “Xbox One and a Half”. The Xbox One is currently on sale for the remainder of April at one of its cheapest price points yet.
