You’ve only had 18 years to play it across some 20 platforms, but if you’re yet to experience the thrills and chills of id Software’s lionized first person shooter Doom then great news! Today marks the game’s long-awaited return to Xbox Live Arcade. Merry news also, of course, for those who just fancy a nostalgia trip. It’s one worth taking.

Doom was yanked off the marketplace back in October 2010 with Bethesda citing the “expiration of rights” as grounds for its sudden departure. Doom would be returning shortly, was the accompanying message, but things didn’t quite pan out that way. Better late than never though, and over a year on that all looks to be settled. You can purchase id’s seminal shooter today for a piddling 400 Microsoft Points.
