The Old Ruins

Secret Areas (8):

  1. Hug the left wall up past the crossbowing gentleman in the green and hang a left.
  2. After passing through the large gates will be a scene with the dual-wielders marching around an apparently significant rock. Hang a left under the bridge with the neatly stacked crates for a secret area and a heart container.
  3. Back at the encounter with the men on patrol, instead of approaching the fortress via the wooden ramps, run down the right wall to reveal a tucked away Soul Anchor and secret area.
  4. As you come off the first major wall (the one where the crossbowman triggered those red barrels) come down the ramp and make an immediate right-hand u-turn (you’ll note a very small crevice between the ramp and the wall). This area can be accessed by simply hugging the right wall in the same area if you can’t find that entrance.
  5. After the second Gunner encounter (where there’s that room with the blue beaker) will be a checkpoint. Immediately head south after hitting that checkpoint under some wooden beams for a secret area.
  6. Just after the razor blade puzzle area is a large open bit of wall with two Grenadiers. Before going into  the room behind them and descending the ramp, off to the right under some more wooden planks is another area.
  7. In the ravine with the automatic cannon fire bombarding the player is a secret area hidden off to the left behind some crates. Go down the ramp to get access.
  8. Just before leaving the level is a slightly ajar gate to the left inviting you in. Sneak in there for a heart container as well.

Puzzles:

  1. There’s a switch hidden off to the side as you climb the wall following the scare by the big monster growling and pounding on the wall (the one proceeded by a Red Hand Bomber) that can be activated to lower a wall. Hit each switch by targeting the barrels to lower all the walls and dodge the blades.
  2. After drawbridge goes down in the ravine area and the massive amount of enemies on the other side of it are dead, a large gate will open revealing a soul anchor. Don’t go that way, turn right and go all the way down. Where there was once a gate there is now only opportunity!… and a puzzle. It begins with a massive pressure plate requiring more than one player.

Collectibles

Heart Containers:

  1. After passing through the large gates will be a scene with the dual-wielders marching around an apparently significant rock. Hang a left under the bridge with the neatly stacked crates for a secret area and a heart container.
  2. Just before leaving the level is a slightly ajar gate to the left inviting you in. Sneak in there for a heart container as well.

Soul Anchors:

  1. Back at the encounter with the men on patrol, instead of approaching the fortress via the wooden ramps, run down the right wall to reveal a tucked away Soul Anchor and secret area.
  3. This one is right behind the massive gates which open after the drawbridge encounter. Once the gate opens up, it’s right there.

Treasure Chests:

  1. When approaching the big fortress after the battle with the Red Hand Bandits on patrol, head to the left and up the ramp to the wall. Hang an immediate right then left and there will be a chest for you.
  2. Assassin: After coming down off the first fortress wall, keep going straight (the wooden floored area that’s fenced off should be directly to your left) and the neatly carved Assassin door will be there.
  3. Wizard: During the first encounter with the Red Hand Gunner some Bandits will be off to the far right behind a spike barrier. Break it down, break them down, and then go just north of the gate to find the Wizard door and break that down.
  4. Mercenary: After the drawbridge comes down over the ravine with the bombarding cannon fire, a Shaman will show up. Behind the Shaman is a Mercenary wall.
