Double Fine’s next project, currently under the working title Double Fine Adventure, will not come to the Xbox Live Arcade, says company founder Tim Schafer – at least, not right away.

Telltale Games is finally spreading the infectious details of their episodic horror/adventure series based on the popular comic book and television show, The Walking Dead. In episode one of the game, players will step into the shoes of a character new to the franchise during the initial outbreak and the fall of Atlanta. While Telltale has been shy thus far to discuss gameplay details, the developers are not shy in letting it be known that story will take the center stage. The development team is aiming to force players to feel the emotion of what’s going on around them, and to connect to what the characters are going through. Anyone who reads The Walking Dead comics knows that this is no normal zombie fair. Speaking of the comics, fans of The Walking Dead comics and/or television show will be happy to know that several familiar faces will be making appearances in the game. Perhaps even more exciting is the fact that series creator Robert Kirkman is guiding Telltale in the development of the game, which is also being penned by Book of Eli writer Gary Whitta.

Those seeking more gritty details should check out the thirteen minute “Playing Dead” clip above. In addition to video, Telltale has also released the first three in-game screenshots of The Walking Dead in action. To view the screens, simply click the link below. Jordan Mechner, the man who made the original Prince of Persia back in 1989, is returning to game development to remake another of his classics, Karateka. Venture Beat reports that Mechner plans to release the game later this year on XBLA and PSN. The original was developed as “a labor of love” on an Apple II and released in 1984.

“It is amazing to me how many people still remember Karateka and talk about it after all these years,” Mechner told Venture Beat. “Somehow, the 1980s seem to be in the air again. People ask me about Karateka on my website all the time, and I keep seeing videos and retrospectives of the original game posted online. I was astonished when I was in Moscow at a press conference for the Prince of Persia movie opening in 2010, and Russian journalists asked questions about Karateka.”

We’ve known for some time that upcoming XBLA game Project Draco would be getting a name change prior to release and developers Grounding Inc, recently mentioned to our intrepid twitter tipper @lifelower that it would finally be announced at a Microsoft event in Toyko later this month. However it seems that the jig is up for the new name has shown up on the Australian ratings board as Crimson Dragon. Microsoft’s PlayXBLA blog have since revealed a smart new logo for the game and a shiny new screen shot, to give it a bit more of an official fanfare.
