The previously PC-only first episode of Albert and Otto is now coming to Xbox One early next year, according to the game’s creator, Nikola Kostic.
“I guess the port is happening. #albertandotto #xboxone,” Kostic tweeted today along with an image of an Xbox One studio development kit.
Responding to XBLA Fans, Kostic explained that he took possession of the development kit a while ago but has been busying himself with creating extra content for the Steam version of Albert and Otto. Now he’s turning his attention toward an Xbox One release, though, which he promises will “for sure” happen in early 2016. Kostic added that he plans to reveal the exact date soon.
XBLA Fans has played several Albert and Otto demos at industry events and couldn’t help but notice the mostly black-and-white game’s visual similarities to XBLA’s Limbo. As in Playdead’s venerated platformer, Albert and Otto puts players in control of a young boy, though the Kbros-developed title sees a magical bunny also tagging along for the adventure.
Reviews aggregate site Metacritic shows only three reviews averaging about 71/100 for the PC release of The Adventure Begins, which is the first of four planned episodes.
