One of the most anticipated XBLA of the titles of the summer – and the official kick-off to Microsoft’s annual Summer of Arcade – hits this week in Activision and Robomodo‘s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, a hi-def rerelease featuring classic levels from the long-running skate series’ earliest entries. With that in mind, there’s little surprise Activision have released a launch trailer that highlights the game’s classic feel.

The rerelease distances itself from the more frequent, less-fondly-remembered days of the long-running franchise (especially Ride and Shred) and sticks to revamping classic levels of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, which originally released during the PSOne era. That decision is on full display in the trailer, which makes a point to display classic moments from levels of the series’ early days (seriously, who hasn’t crashed through that glass overhang?). Of course, whether the game recaptures the magic of early Tony Hawk remains to be seen (like, say, when XBLAFans posts its review of the game later this week).

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD grinds onto XBLA on Wednesday for 1200 MSP.
