The Walking Dead Sales

Developer Telltale’s episodic zombie adventure game The Walking Dead has received no shortage of critical praise, winning myriad outlets’ Game of the Year awards (including XBLAFans’). According to Telltale CEO Dan Connors, the game has also enjoyed no shortage of popularity among consumers.

Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Connors explained that gamers have purchased 8.5 million episodes have been sold from the 5-episode first season across all platforms (XBLA, PSN, PC and iOS).

The Journal points out that at roughly $5 an episode that sales figure would account to $40 million in revenues. Various specials across all four platforms, including the XBLA version of the first episode recently being given away for nothing, mean that the actual revenue Telltale has taken in to date for the game is somewhere south of that number.

XBLA Fans has reached out to Telltale with a question about what slice of that 8.5 million is represented by XBLA sales, and we’ll update this story should the developer respond to our query.
