State of Decay one of several Xbox games being explored for TV shows
Microsoft has announced that a number of its popular video game franchises could potentially get their own TV shows, reports Joystiq. Vice President of Xbox Entertainment Studios Jordan Levin stated at a press event in San Francisco last week that there are a few games that “most immediately come to mind” for TV adaptations, and Xbox Live Arcade smash hit State of Decay is one of them.
Of course, the games Levin alluded to are only at a point of internal “exploratory conversation” as of now, which means Microsoft could ultimately end up passing on the prospect of creating programming based upon them.
Along with Undead Labs’ open world zombie game, a number of high profile Xbox franchises could potentially get their own shows: Gears of War, Forza Motorsport, Fable and Age of Empires. If Microsoft chooses to give the green light to shows based on those series, those programs would join the previously announced Halo television program and digital feature as part of the Xbox Originals lineup.
