Smaller, more efficient processor being developed for Xbox One
AMD has developed a smaller version of the processor found in the Xbox One. The information was found on the LinkedIn bio of AMD’s senior manager of SOC (system on chip) physical design. The chip currently measures 28nm, and the newly developed one is 20nm. The manufacturer of the physical chip says shrinking it down provides 30 percent higher speed or requires 25 percent less power than the existing processor. This information indicates that the Xbox One may already be looking to slim down. The slim version will likely be developed after the holidays since so many versions of the One have recently been made available.
