Microsoft have vowed to help disappointed Xbox One owners whose consoles have arrived broken. Faults include noisy and broken Blu-ray disk drives that in the worst case scenario will not play disc-based games at all.

In a statement to Polygon a Microsoft spokesperson urged Xbox One owners to get in touch withfor help. “There are many avenues available for customers to get in touch with us,” reads the statement. These include speaking to a live customer service representative, visiting xbox.com, or going to their Twitter page (@XboxSupport). Customers with faulty Xbox One consoles can also get help through the console itself “by saying [the voice command] ‘Xbox Help'” to the system’s Kinect camera.

In a followup statement the spokesperson said that “This issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers”. They also noted that there is an “advance exchange program” available for affected customers wherein “a customer only has to wait a couple of days” for a replacement console.

The next-gen console launched last Friday in numerous territories and it is currently unknown just what the percentage of customers having hardware failures is.
