We love Microsoft and we love Twisted Pixel who’ve been making great games on XBLA for the last couple of years. Joystiq broke the news that they officially announced Microsoft has purchased the Texas-based studio that make games such as ‘Splosion Man and The Maw. While it may worry some of you that creativity might get dialed back but Matt Booty, General Manager for Microsoft Studios, rests our assurance. “We’re very invested that they get to stay who they are, and they get to retain the magic they’ve got as a smaller indie developer,” Booty stated, “We’d like to leave the golden goose alone, so to speak.” It’s great to hear that since they’re one of the few studios who like to branch off and make games that are entirely unique to the XBLA platform and more recently, Kinect. Michael Wilford, CEO of Twisted Pixel, says the one thing changing for the studio will be more time on projects with bigger scales. “I think you’re going to see more of the same type of approach to our games, but with greater resources and time. You’re going to see us be able to make bigger games and richer games going forward.” Wilford said. We’re looking forward to whatever Twisted Pixel has on the arrival for XBLA and congratulate them on their success.
