In an exclusive with Eurogamer, Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios announced their upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title, Renegade Ops. Described as a twin-stick “vehicle shooter”, the game is powered by Avalanche Engine 2.0, the same engine that powered Just Cause 2. Multiplayer is featured, with two players via splitscreen and up to four over Xbox Live. Avalanche senior producer Andreas Thorsén stated that development started shortly after Just Cause 2 was completed. He cited inspiration for trying to make an innovative top-down twin-stick shooter:

“A lot of inspiration came from looking at Shadow Complex and what they did to the Super Metroid mechanics. We wanted to do something similar, using old school mechanics created with the looks of today.”
