Microsoft Studios’ free-to-play arena battler Happy Wars gets a new version this week, ushering in a number of improvements. Version 1.1 is now available for download, and brings the following to the table:

  • Berserker Class – Melee character with the option of using a second weapon in place of the shield with all new skills available.
  • Mission Mode – A new mode where missions are available during gameplay to complete for rewards. In addition, beginner players will receive improved starting stats in an effort to balance the experience. Supporting these beginners will also earn you bonus scores.
  • The story mode can now be unlocked with Happy Tickets, in addition to ranking up.
  • The matchmaking system has been overhauled which should lead to shorter loading times in lobbies.
  • Alterations have been made to the camera system and map collisions for better performance.

The downside to all these new changes? You’re going to have to uninstall Happy Wars and re-download in order to ensure compatibility. Microsoft Studios has provided easy to follow instructions for the whole process, which should only take a few minutes.

To download it, you, first, you’ll need to delete the old version from your console by going to the “Settings” area of your Dashboard and selecting “System” and then “Storage” to select the storage device your game is saved on. Once the storage device is selected, go to “Games and Apps” -> “HappyWars” and delete the “Happy Wars Xbox LIVE Arcade Game” file. Once you’ve confirmed the deletion, simply go to the Marketplace and re-download “Happy Wars” and you’ll have the newest version!
