Studio Wildcard appears set to unleash the most predatory fish this side of Austin Powers‘ ill-tempered sea bass.
The ARK: Survival Edition devs recently unveiled the “Sabertooth Salmon” as a future creature for its dino-riding game currently available through the Xbox One Game Preview Program. Though described as carnivorous and pointing some serious chompers, this pre-historic upstream swimmer is said to be “generally passive” and conflict-averse, quickly swimming away from anything larger than it. If an entire school of Sabertooth Salmon are provoked, however, they may put their fangs to use and slowly drain an aggressor’s blood.
In less ridiculous news, leeches are another breed of blood-sucking animal on their way to ARK. The unintelligent creatures will behave exactly as you’d expect them to: they latch onto any living creature they can and suck their blood.
Both Sabertooth Salmon and leeches will be useful to players, with the former being a source of food and the latter an ingredient for powerful antivenin.
No release dates have been announced for either animal, but if past precedent is anything to go by then they’ll likely make their way to the PC version before later coming to Xbox One.
